Will the UAE buy into the diesel market?

Diesel fueled cars make up 60 per cent of European sales. Can these types of cars break the UAE and US markets? The recent demonstration by Audi shows that diesels are highly efficient, but still has a reputation as the fuel used by smoky trucks. BMW, Mercedes and Volkswagen aim to break the US market but the current trends in the UAE, with low petrol quality and low costs, it would be difficult to see these cars here anytime soon.
