Montreal pace car up for sale
MONTREAL // Following the announcement that Canada will not stage a Formula 1 Grand Prix next year, the red Ford GT used as the official pace car for major motorsport events at the Montreal circuit, has been put up for auction. The car, one of only 4,038 GTs produced when the marque was revived in 2003, is expected to fetch $500,000 (Dh1.85 million) when it is auctioned by Adesa in Toronto. The GT, Ford's remake of its 1960s classic GT40, will power its new owner to an electronically-limited top speed of 330kph. Production of the supercar ceased in Oct 2007 when demand began to subside.
