Mini reveals 'harmonious entity' vehicle ahead of Detroit debut

DETROIT // Be afraid, be very afraid. Mini has released details of its Beachcomber Concept vehicle ahead of the car's official unveiling at next month's North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Mini has a history of building concepts that go into production and, while we sincerely hope the gorgeous Mini Coupe Concept (shown earlier this year as part of the marque's 50th birthday celebrations) gets the go ahead, we'd be happy to see the Beachcomber set adrift. Designed to bring to mind the old Mini Moke, the Beachcomber Concept "consistently does without doors, a conventional roof and all other body elements which might possibly limit the intensity of the occupants' encounter with their surrounding world," according to an official statement from the brand. "This makes the driver and three passengers one harmonious entity communicating directly with their surroundings," the release continues.
