Ghana's road safety initiative

ACCRA, GHANA // As part of a broad road safety campaign, the Ghanian government has launched a tyre safety device which they are recommending all motorists fit on their cars. The device supports a deflated tyre in the event of a blow-out while the car is moving allowing the driver more control while driving to safety. Other measures that have been introduced include the introduction of log books for commercial vehicles above 3.5 tonnes to help reduce fatigue and speed-related accidents and the fitting of reflective tape to commercial vehicles to improve visibility.
