Cobra auction record tipped

INDIANAPOLIS // Collector car specialists Mecum Auction will be selling an original 1965 Shelby Daytona Cobra Coupe at 8pm on May 18. The classic muscle car will go under the hammer at the 22nd annual Spring Classic auction in Indianapolis. Mecum expects the car to set a new record for the highest price paid at a public auction for an American car. The current recordholder is a Shelby Cobra Super Snake that was sold in 2007 for $5.5 million. The Daytona Cobra is the fourth of just six built, winning three of the eight FIA races in which it competed. It has been restored to its original condition and the auction will be screened live on tevision.
