Beijing Auto denies spying

BEIJING // The Chinese automaker Beijing Auto has distanced itself from one of its employees who has been arrested and indicted in the US on charges of industrial espionage. It is alleged that Yu Xiangdong stole trade secrets from Ford Motor Company when he worked there as a product engineer. Beijing Auto has released a statement to refute suggestions that it benefited from information obtained by Yu. Beijing Auto "has always respected and protected intellectual property rights," it said. "In the development of cars, the company has always stressed the cultivation of innovation abilities."
