Lots of teenage girls remember getting their first make-up book, and it was probably written by Bobbi Brown. A make-up artist, entrepreneur, wife and mother of three, Brown, 53, is the author of six beauty books. Inspired as a child by her mother's beauty rituals, she graduated with a degree in theatrical make-up and became a professional make-up artist in New York. "When I started out as a make-up artist in the 1980s, many of the shades and formulas I had to work with didn't look natural," she says. "This void inspired me to create a cosmetics line that looked more natural on the skin. I wanted make-up to complement a woman's own look, rather than overpower it... No matter where you are in the world, I learnt that women want the same thing - to look like themselves, just prettier and more confident." Bobbi Brown products are sold in over 400 stores in 20 countries, including the UAE. She talks to Jemma Nicholls about her passions and favourite things.
