Pendant

For an eye-catching centrepiece, suspend a striking pendant lamp from the ceiling of your living room. Try the Ouka model by the French company Fourmis Bleues, which has a magical, fairy-tale feel to it. Dh4,348, Faubourg Design.

Art

Niki has used artwork in her living room to create a feature wall. Her Rob Ryan original, Can We Shall We, now goes for around Dh5,000, but you can snap up cheaper examples of his stunning paper-cut work at www.etsy.com.

Inlay

Mother-of-pearl inlay doesn't have to be confined to classical or oriental-style interiors. Modern interpretations like this table by Nada Debs can look great in contemporary room schemes too. Dh25,200, Aati.

Arches

Flos's Arco floor lamp creates visual separation between the dining room and the sitting area. If you can't afford this classic, BoConcept's EU Salon lamp will serve the same purpose. Dh2,695, BoConcept stores nationwide.

Embroidery

The jewel rich colours of the Suzani-inspired cushions are perfect accents for the deep blue and purple colour schemes used in the lounge and bedroom. This similar version is new in at The One this month. Dh199, The One stores nationwide.
