Bold & Noble type map

You don't have to be the patriotic sort to love the Bold & Noble type map. These wonderful hand-pulled screen prints, in which the shape and form of a country are made up of the names of their towns, cities and states, match typography with geography beautifully, and are something to be admired whatever your country of origin.

They are part of the collection by the UK design collective Bold & Noble, founded by Jane Tobitt and David Wardle with a manifesto to create affordable art for the home. The first of the maps to go on sale, the British Isles, is already something of a modern classic, and the following Australia, New Zealand and America versions are now selling just as fast.

"We send them out all over the world," says Tobitt. "Everyone loves their home country, especially ex-pats."

Maps of Canada, Ireland and Japan will go on sale from March, and there are plans for more to follow. The 50cm x 70cm posters, available in cool duck-egg blue or a handsome slate grey, are printed on recycled 250gsm card, sold unframed and will be delivered to the UAE for Dh58.
