Food bites: Mother's Day offers and Sardinian food festival

Hilton charity dinner

Pachanga, the Latin American restaurant at the Hilton Jumeirah, is holding a charity event on Monday in aid of the Dubai Autism Centre. Its “It’s Up To You” evening allows guests to choose what they pay for their dinner, rather than being presented with a bill, with 15 per cent of the total revenue from the evening being donated to the Autism Centre. Mother’s Day high tea

APi CAE Gourmet in Abu Dhabi is also marking UK Mother’s Day on Friday with a high tea special, served from 12pm to 4pm. For a very reasonably priced Dh85, two people can tuck into biscuits, scones, mini cupcakes and posh sandwiches, and wash it all down with a few cups of specialty tea or Illy coffee. Sardinian festival at Grand Millennium

The Grand Millennium in Dubai is celebrating Sardinian food with a two-week festival dedicated to the Italian island. Its four-course menu, which features plenty of seafood – mussels with tomato concasse, octopus salad and sautéed prawns – costs Dh195 per person and is available from March 16 to 28. CLAW set to open

CLAW, a BBQ, crabshack and grill serving South American food, is due to open in Souk Al Bahar later this month. It certainly sounds like a fun place to be; there’s an in-house mechanical rodeo bull and guests are encouraged to use wooden mallets to crack open their seafood. Expect to see crab chowder, seafood buckets, smoked chicken, steak and Buffalo wings on the menu.
