Dubai has a new gourmet go-to

Since its opening in August, Market and Platters in Dubai Marina has quickly become the go-to place for gourmands in search of quality ingredients.

This family-run food shop and delicatessen has a look that reminds us of the food halls in upmarket department stores.

In addition to a small selection of fresh produce, it stocks a seriously impressive range of speciality products including estate olive oils, balsamic vinegars, artisan breads and cheeses, as well as ready-made, deli-style takeaway platters

From the start of November, fresh, imported truffles will also be on sale (as seasonal availability permits), alongside the store's permanent selection of other truffle products including truffle peelings, truffle paste and truffle juice.

The main draw here, however, is the comprehensive range of fresh and live seafood, which you can buy whole or filleted, as a ready-prepared tartare or in sushi form. And though you could find cheaper fish elsewhere, the prices do reflect an exceptional quality.
