Fitness briefs: free dance class for teenagers

Participate in Yas Waterworld's Survivial of the Fittest challenge or attend a mass pillow fight.

Free youth dance class

The Mazaya Centre branch of the Dubai health club Fitness 360 is offering free trial dance classes for children ages 13 to 17. "Not only will it help them keep fit, it is a dynamic class where they can meet other children with the same love for dance," said a gym spokesman.

House Fusion Teen Edition takes place at 4pm on Tuesday, July 2. Call 04 330 7711 for more information. The club is also offering discounted lessons to adults who book through its new website www.thecurve-me.com.

Yas fitness challenge

Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi's Survival of the Fittest challenge will include jousting, races, competitive eating, paddling and puzzles.

The competition, which takes place on June 29 at 3pm, will feature 12 teams from UAE colleges, universities and clubs, as well as entrants from radio competitions and Facebook fans. Each four-member team will participate in various elimination challenges ranging from throwing pearls into a bucket to paddling a two-man tube across a set route. Call 02 414 2000 or visit www.yaswaterworld.com for more information.

Mass pillow fight tonight

Anyone wanting to harmlessly bash out some aggression should attend a mass pillow fight at Dubai Mall Wednesday afternoon.

"Please join us as you witness the new definition of a smashing good time," said a spokesman for the event. Part of Dubai Summer Surprises, the pillow fight will be Wednesday at 5pm at the Dubai Ice Rink.

The 16th Dubai Summer Surprises runs until July 7 and includes dozens of shows and activities, all fronted by the cheerful, yellow mascot Modhesh.
