iPhone app for healthcare announced

DUBAI // Users of the iPhone can download a free application that, with the click of a button, can find the nearest hospital, healthcare centre or pharmacy, and even dial the corresponding phone number, the Ministry of Health announced today.

The software, which can be downloaded from Apple’s App Store in both Arabic and English, also allows users to call an ambulance with the touch of a button, though users will be asked for quick confirmation.

“We are also working on a software for BlackBerry, and expect it to be ready in approximately four to six weeks,” said Nour Khamis, health educator at the Ministry of Health.

The iPhone application was launched in October, and will be updated every six months.
