Painting in the Italian Renaissance - The National

Painting in the Italian Renaissance

Talks

Feb 29, 2012

Attend a talk on Italian paintings from the 15th and 16th centuries, when a new artistic language was paving the way for great changes in the West. Speakers from the Ecole du Louvre and the Agence France-Muséums will discuss innovations in perspective, the treatment of volumes, colour, light and drawing that characterise the Renaissance period. Man, at the centre of everything, became the favourite subject of painters. From frescoes to easel art, and from sacred to secular paintings, masters such as Leonardo da Vinci paid fervent attention to the representation of reality and the human figure.

Wednesday, February 29, 6.45pm, free admission, Manarat Al Saadiyat, Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi, register via www.artsabudhabi.ae
