Film

It has been 15 years since Wes Craven’s Scream hit the cinema (feeling old?), grossing US $103 million in America alone and credited with revitalising the horror genre. It spawned a slew of copycat slasher attempts (I Know What You Did Last Summer), and two pretty terrible sequels, but Scream 4 gets a few things right. The Ghostface Killer – now YouTube savvy – returns to Woodsboro to terrorise Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) who is there to promote her new book. Emma Roberts and Hayden Panettiere inject the teenage element that’s missing from 2 and 3. David Arquette and Courteney Cox reprise their roles as Dewey and Gale, the odd couple. It’s quite scary and there is plenty of self spoofery, which is funny at first but quickly becomes tiresome.
