Al Maslaha (The Business)

In an attempt to avenge his brother’s murder by a drug dealer, Egyptian police officer Hamza (Ahmed El Sakka) requests to be transferred from Central Security Forces to the Drug Enforcement Administration. Clashes soon begin between police and Sinai drug lord Salem Al Mesallami (Ahmed Ezz). The expectations have been set high for Al Maslaha (The Business), a film based on true events, but some critics have found it a letdown. “Scriptwriter Wael Abdallah failed spectacularly. It seemed as if he was watching the Egyptian film Al Jazeera while writing the script for Al Maslaha … Ahmed Ezz’s performance and his failure to master the Bedouin dialect were the worst things about this movie. In stark contrast, Ahmed El Sakka, against my expectations, delivered an outstanding performance throughout the movie,” writes Abd Al Aziz Atta in a review for www.elcinema.com.
