Steve Jobs: Twitter tributes from UAE for Apple's 'visionary'


Computer industry players and people on Twitter in the UAE expressed their condolences for the death of man who was driving force behind products such as the iPod, iPhone and iPad.

Apple's Steve Jobs died yesterday aged 56 after a public battle with pancreatic cancer.

"Of course it comes as a shock," said Ossama Eldeeb, regional sales manager for computer chip manufacturer AMD, which Abu Dhabi has a major stake in.

"What really matters is what that person has done during his life and I firmly believe that he was a visionary definitely and he was a genius in his field. His vision is transforming and is continuing to transform computing as we know it today," said Mr Eldeeb.

Users on the social media website Twitter in the Emirates have reacted to Mr Jobs death' by posting a high volume of messages of condolences. 'Steve Jobs' became the most talked about topic on the site this morning.

"Guess you decided to leave, We'll miss you, dear Steve!! World will never be the same, thanks for making us believe!," said PKGulati, PK.

"God bless Steve Jobs he made a life of defying conventions and expectations,"said @Majic82, Majid Y A.

Mr Jobs' death comes just two days after the company unveiled its iPhone 4S. The company's former charismatic leader was not at present at the launch of the smartphone.
