GM cars will soon zoom online

Smart cars that connect to smartphones and tablets are now a reality, but General Motors will take things a step further when it launches the first fourth-generation (4G) LTE-enabled car next year.

Its future models from the Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac brandswill support connectivity for the car in the United States and Canada, before launching in Europe and the rest of the world and extended to the Opel and Vauxhall brands.

"We are working on the technology that we think customers will want in the future," said Steve Girsky, the vice chairman of GM, at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. "Our vision is to bring the customer's digital life into the car."
