Marks & Spencer (M&S), the UK clothing retailer, is expected to open its store in Marina Mall, Abu Dhabi, on Sunday.
Using part of the space vacated by Ikea when it moved to Yas Island, retail chain Al-Futtaim will officially open the 30,000 sq ft store which will be its 16th M&S in the Middle East.
Its existing Abu Dhabi outlet remains open in the Fotouh Al Khair Centre on Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum Street. The Festival City store in Dubai also remains the retailer's flagship outlet in the UAE.
The store will be on the ground floor of Marina Mall, and two other retailers are expected to set up shop on the lower ground floor.
Analysts described the move as "low risk" for M&S, which should benefit from the mall's strong footfall and premium location.
