Abu Dhabi's largest property developer by market value, Aldar Properties, yesterday unveiled the first artist's impression of its futuristic UAE capital headquarters. The pearl-shaped headquarters will be the first occupied building within the company's Al Raha Beach development. Located in the Al Dana district, the commercial and financial hub of Al Raha Beach, it is scheduled for completion in September next year.
Aldar's new head office is designed by MZ & Partners and was recently voted the "Best Futuristic Design" by the Building Exchange Conference held in Valencia, Spain. Standing approximately 110 metres high, the building will require 5,700 tonnes of steel, 25,000 cubic metres of concrete and have a glass area covering 25,000 cubic metres. Some 90,000 cubic metres of sand must be excavated for it to be built.
A steel frame - which is 30 per cent constructed - will rise to 23 storeys and give the building its spherical shape. Since its inception in 2004 on the Abu Dhabi Securities Market, Aldar has announced more than $72bn worth of projects. firstname.lastname@example.org
