Assad cannot be trusted so we need to have Russia and China agree to stop sending arms as well. What a blood bath

Who is anyone trying to kid? The "cases of abuse, non-payment of wages, confiscation of passports, forced confinement and little or no time off" are not just an issue in Lebanon. Although abuse may not be as obvious or widespread, at least not physical abuse, other sorts of abuse are happening along with the rest of the issues listed, right here in the U.A.E. The majority of people who are not professionals have their passports confiscated by their employers. I know more than one Filipina,Filipino, Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Indonesian, Sri Lankan and others who are forced to give up their passports. When they request them in order to fly home, they are not given them without a huge uproar and hoops they are forced to jump through. People are lied to about the job they are coming to, often paid less than in the contract, and are told they may not leave when they wish to. Salaries are withheld, they are threatened with not having visas canceled until they sign off a document (which generally says they have received everything owed to them) and then after being promised that they will receive the outstanding pay they are not given it "because you signed the document and that means we gave it to you". What a crock! Yes the UAE has laws about most of these things, but they are not upheld. There is little recourse for the very people who need the safeguards the most.
