The comment about real fans travelling 1000 miles isn't about how far they live from the ground, it's about the commitment of ravelling all over britain and indeed europe to follow them. About fans that have season tickets and are on the away scheme. We are not rich, we go without things like nice cars etc to follow our team. I'm not saying we are better than armchair supporters, our opinion isn't more valid, but we ( as a rule ) SUPPORT OUR CLUB THROUGH THE HARD TIMES The singing of " we love you Arsenal " at Old Trafford whilst 8-2 down is the point im trying to make. It's easy to support a successful team. Your team needs you supporting more, when they are finding it more difficult. Frimpong is only telling it as it is. I love his passion. It is great to see players like him and Whiltshire, real fans, playing for the club. In answer to your pensioner question, yes, if someone shows the resolve to travel to support their team, that makes him a better supporter than a pensioner who lives in Islington and won't go to a carling cup game for a tenner.

Will did you watch this in your local pub? If you was at the game then surely you would have noticed the kop started singing "suarez" in response to the oldham fans singing "just a town full of racists". And to make out its some sort of tribal instinct is pathetic, nearly as pethetic as the moron who shouted the abuse. To blame dalglish for one persons moronic actions when 45000 others did nothing wrong. And also while this incident is totally disgusting, there are alot of footballers that receive much worse abuse from fans week in week out, but because of the racism all the press are up in arms about it and the rest dont even get a mention.
