I would much rather plastic bags of all sorts were banned, biodegradable or not, they seem to blow around everywhere - you find them in the desert, you find then in steets & in your garden, you find then in the sea when scuba diving, you find them fastened up in bushes and trees, you find them stuck to the exhaust of your car only when the smell overpowers you as you park. Lets be done with plastic bage, cheap and nasty, all perbasive and seemingly everlasting. Charge people a dirham a bag, then in three months double it, double it again, and keep doubling the price per bag - when it hits your pocket you begin to take notice.

There are other technologies which allow for the plastic bags to be recycled. It would be wise for the UAE to look at competing technologies which do not change the recycling stream. BioSphere Plastic has this technology and it is less expensive than the Oxodegradable technologies.
