The US were well aware of this situation long before Obama talked of his soldiers leaving Iraq with 'honour' and 'their heads held high' and moved the rump to Kuwait. Among many other expressions of concern about the dictatorial and Iranian regime serving nature of Al-Malki's governance, over 1 million Iraqis, of all sects and from all walks of life, recently sent a petition to the UN Security Council calling for protection for Ashraf in Diyala province, home to 3,400 Iranian exiles in opposition to the Iranian regime, "special guests" in their country. Under Iran's direct influence, Al-Maliki has ordered their attack on mahy occasions since 2009 when the US handed protection of Ashraf to his government, the most recent on 8th April 2011 when 36 died and over 350 were injured. Siege conditions in place since 2009 restrict food, fuel and medical supplies and treatment and 300 loudspeakers blare death threats and insults day and night. Al-Maliki is preparing for another, even more devestating, attack on Ashraf at any mopment as he has promised the mullahs in Tehran to close Ashraf by whatever means by the end of the year and is obstructing diplomatic moves by the UN and EU for a peaceful solution. The United States are well aware of this. Thousands held a rally outside the White House on 12th December as Al-Maliki met Obama for "talks". The current actions in Iraq is not random sectarian violence, but an impassioned plea for the truth of Al-Maliki's dictatorship to be realised and for help to bring Iraq nearer to true democracy and to save the lives of 3,400 innocents. Listen to their plea.

If I were an American servicewoman I shouldn't be feeling very proud ! If Tehran takes over Iraq, it will have been handed over to one of the worst regimes since Hitler - they hang children of 6 ! 3,400 Iranian refugees are now living at a camp in Iraq which Prime Minister Al-Maliki insists (against international law) must be closed at the end of December. He says he will respect their rights: he said that on April 7 and 6 hours later they were being machine-gunned and run over by Humvees. What will happen on New Year's Day ? Can't you guess ?
