A great article. You sum up the Volt very well. One thing though you might not have been aware of. The Volt has a mode called Mountain Mode(MM). It is designed to save extra charge in the battery by running in CS Mode(gas mode) earlier so the battery will have more power to draw from on long up hill grades. Some Volt drivers however have been using MM to save some charge for the end of their drive if they know they are going to be driving at highway speeds thus avoiding the 9L/100KM you got after your battery was depleted. CS Mode is more efficient at highway speeds. So if you start your drive in MM and you switch out of MM when you leave the Highway you should have about 22km of charge left in the battery for great EV driving where the EV is the best! All in all it is a great car with lots of potential and a lot of new tricks to be learned. Cheers!
