There is enough written material on the subject of marriage by Scholars. In islam cousin marriage is allowed but not preffered. It addresses the issue of marriage for every possible social settings. In some context cousin marriage works and in some cases it does not. Historically marriage is way to strengtheing ones ties with others. I am not against the norm of cousin marriage but in the current socio-economic climate, it is somewhat not warrnted to opt for cousin marriage more so as information about unrelated family member can now easily be obtained. Those arguing for cousin marriage seems to be seeing cousin marriage as first option due to social expectation instead of being the last. In the beduine tradition, it made sense to marry into family that one is well aware off. Is the current GCC country still living beduine life? Social norm is never the sole yardstick in matters of relegion. It is the principle and reasonoing.
