The National Day gala concert will be held at the National Theatre in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.
A 60-piece symphonic orchestra will be led by the maestro Andrew Berryman, with international and local artists accompanying the assembly to provide a variety of music throughout the evening.
The Chinese violinist Min Yang will perform a solo of Sarasate’s Carmen Fantasy on a Calcanius, an Italian violin made in 1740. The Emirati composer and pianist Ibrahim Al Junaibi will entertain with his own Arabic composition and the American operatic soprano Julia Teal Kermott, the Irish baritone Paul Moore and the Al Khubairat choir will perform the hit Barcelona by Queen. The programme also includes Ravel’s Bolero and Verdi’s opera La Forza del Destino.
There will also be a preconcert Emirati art exhibition by the Abu Dhabi Art Hub as part of NSO’s community outreach initiative.
