Following news that everyone's favourite serial killer Hannibal Lecter could soon find himself in a new TV series from the creator of Pushing Daisies, we give you five other characters that have made the film-to-TV transition.
Take Five... Superman
The Man of Steel may soon be about to burst back on to cinema screens, but since 2004, Smallville has been documenting Clark Kent's troublesome teenage years in small-town USA (Kansas), long before he started wearing pants over his trousers.
Take Four... Cher
No, not the wobbly-voiced shiny-faced singer, but the lead character from the popular 1995 teen flick Clueless. Following the film's success, a TV series was quickly put together. The only problem was, Alicia Silverstone's star had risen too much and Cher was played instead by (far) lesser known Rachel Blanchard.
Take Three... Buffy
The original stake-wielding Drac-killer was played by Kristy Swanson in the 1992 film Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Swanson, last seen in the film Swamp Shark (which, alas, appears not to have made it out here), must have been somewhat gutted to see Sarah Michelle Gellar rise to fame in the subsequent TV series.
Take Two... Sarah Conner
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles showed the mother of humankind's saviour on the run following the events of Terminator 2. Thankfully, gone was the butch, vested Linda Hamilton and in came a fresher-faced Lena Headey (who doubles up as the nasty Cersei Lanister in Game of Thrones).
Take One... Indiana Jones
It may have been short-lived (1992-1993), but The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles did show the youthful archaeologist tussle with Ernest Hemingway for the affections of a girl.
