What to see at DIFF: Valley of Saints
Set in the endangered lake communities of Kashmir, this tender romance follows the story of a young tourist boatman and his best friend as they fail in their attempt to escape from the violent region and find themselves both falling for the mysterious woman they encounter while trapped after a military crackdown.
This visually stunning tale - the American director Musa Syeed's debut feature - blends fiction with documentary and picked up the Sundance Film Festival's World Dramatic Award earlier this year.
