Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra were the big winners at the 2013 Stardust Awards on Saturday night. At the Bollywood ceremony in Mumbai, both bagged two awards each. Chopra won the Best Actress (Drama) for the romantic comedy Barfi! and the Star of the Year Award (Female), while Khan won the Star of the Year (Male) and Best Actor (Editor’s Choice) for Jab Tak Hai Jaan. Barfi!, directed by Anurag Basu, won Best Film. Manoj Bajpayee won Best Actor for Gangs of Wasseypur. – IANS

Kareena Kapoor’s new role revealed

Emraan Hashmi and Kareena Kapoor have been confirmed as the stars of Karan Johar and Ekta Kapoor’s first co-production. Work will start on the unnamed romantic drama in September. “Proud to share the news that Dharma (Productions) and Balaji Motion Pictures joint venture stars Emraan Hashmi and Kareena Kapoor. (It goes) on floors in September 2013,” tweeted Girish Johar of Balaji Motion Pictures. In an interview, Girish Johar revealed that another actress is yet to be cast for the movie, which will be directed by Akshay Roy. – IANS

Yami Gautam paired opposite Sharman in film

Yami Gautam, who began her movie career with Vicky Donor, will reportedly star opposite Sharman Joshi in her third film. While Gautam has refused to confirm these rumours, sources close to Joshi revealed that the project – to be directed by Shivam Nair – had been given the go ahead. “I am not allowed to speak about the film right now. It is too early to talk about it,” said Gautam. “Right now I am excited about Aman Ki Aasha,” she added, referring to her soon-to-be-released second film, in which she stars with the Pakistani actor Ali Zafar. – IANS

Monica Dogra excited about new role

The actress and singer Monica Dogra says she’s eagerly looking forward to the release of her new film David, directed by Bejoy Nambiar. She has not starred in a film since Dhobi Ghat with Aamir Khan in 2011. “I was waiting for a film which spoke to me; I really wanted to do this film when I heard the script. Bejoy Nambiar is a dream director and this character will help me surprise my audience and fan base. In fact, I surprised myself in the film,” she said. – IANS

Ameesha Patel faces dual role challenge

Ameesha Patel says starring in and producing her new movie Desi Magic is the toughest challenge of her career. “Desi Magic will begin shooting in April. I am excited about the film as I am playing a double role for the first time. This film is going to be the toughest of my career,” said the 37-year-old. “I am enjoying the role of a producer. It is fun being part of the narration and contributing a lot more than as an actress. It is like taking care of your newborn baby.” – IANS
