Film Review: Sammy's second outing is a worthwhile experience

Sammy’s Adventures 2
Director: Ben Stassen
Voices of: Yuri Lowenthal, Melanie Griffith, Isabelle Fuhrman

The adventurous turtle returns in this animated sequel, which sees Sammy and his best friend Ray captured by poachers and planning an escape from an underwater aquarium attraction. While the environmental message is still there, the heavy-handed delivery of the first film is gone, leaving a film that focuses a lot more on cartoonish humour which, though not quite as insightful, makes for a more entertaining movie experience. The returning voice talent seem more natural in their roles and the animation appears smoother (although still falling short of the Hollywood market leaders). Despite its flaws (as with the first film, the 3D is distracting at times), a cheerful demeanour and wholesome message make Sammy 2 a fun and worthwhile experience.
