Longoria dating football star Sanchez
Eva Longoria has confirmed she is dating the New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez. “Mark and I are, you know, fine. We’re happy – just dating,” Longoria, 37, told the entertainment talk show Extra. Rumours about the couple first surfaced last month when they were spotted out together in New Jersey, where Sanchez, 25, owns a home. Longoria divorced her second husband, the NBA player Tony Parker, in early 2011 after four years of marriage.
Bynes licence suspended after hit and run
A Los Angeles judge has ordered Amanda Bynes – recently charged with two counts of hit and run – off the road after reports that she was seen last week driving, though her license is under suspension. Bynes was charged earlier this month after allegedly crashing into a car and fleeing the scene twice in the span of five months. She is scheduled to appear in court for an arraignment on September 27. The charges carry a maximum sentence of six months in jail. – IANS
Ryder in talks for Burton’s Beetlejuice sequel
Winona Ryder has revealed she is in talks with Tim Burton for the filmmaker’s sequel of his 1988 comedy horror hit Beetlejuice. Ryder played the goth daughter character in the original movie. “I’m seeing Tim next week and I will let you know,” Ryder told reporters at the Toronto International Film Festival. “Obviously I’m not the film’s focal point, it’s got to be Michael Keaton. So is it happening? It’s being written, that’s what I can confirm.” Keaton and Geena Davis, the 1988 film’s stars, have earlier expressed interest in the sequel. – IANS
Game of Thrones top creative Emmys
The fantasy series Game of Thrones was the big winner at the creative arts Emmy Awards on Saturday, winning six trophies including for Visual Effects and Costumes. Others honoured were TV guest stars including Kathy Bates for Two and a Half Men and Jimmy Fallon as the host of Saturday Night Live. Casting awards went to Homeland and Girls, while Smash won Best Choreography. The Daily Show with Jon Stewart was awarded Best Writing For a Variety Series. The prime-time Emmys will be held on Sunday. – AP
Entourage movie on preproduction
Doug Ellin, the creator the of the HBO series Entourage, has announced he has completed the script for a film version of the show. The story picks up six months after the show left off – with the agent Ari Gold (Jeremy Piven) becoming a studio mogul. “Mark Wahlberg [one of the show’s actors and producers] keeps promising to kill me if I don’t write faster. Every time I see him, Mark says, ‘I’ve made five movies this year. Get going!’” Entourage premièred in 2004 and ended in September 2011.
