Big B courted for Hollywood adaptation
After making his Hollywood debut in Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby, the veteran Indian actor Amitabh Bachchan is in talks for another international production: an adaptation of the Indian author Vikas Swarup’s Six Suspects. Bachchan has reportedly been approached by BBC and Starfield Productions to star in the movie, set to be directed by the Argentinian filmmaker Pablo Trapero. Swarup’s novel Q&A was previously adapted by Danny Boyle into Slumdog Millionaire.
Springsteen’s new album released early
Bruce Springsteen’s latest album, High Hopes, was available for purchase and download via Amazon on Saturday, weeks ahead of its supposed January 14 release. The rocker’s 18th studio album features collaborations with the Rage Against the Machine’s guitarist, Tom Morello, and the final recorded appearances by the late E Street Band, members Clarence Clemons and Danny Federici.
Salman Khan to host Star Guild Awards
The Bollywood actor Salman Khan has signed on to host the ninth edition of the Star Guild Awards after his stint as the presenter last year. The January 16 event will honour achievements in Indian cinema and television. “The industry has witnessed an incredible year in 2013 with regards to the quality of content produced. We are very excited and look forward to the ceremony,” said Mukesh Bhatt, the president of The Film & Television Producers Guild of India. Winners are chosen by the guild’s 160 members.
Stevie Nicks officiates Carlton’s wedding
Stevie Nicks performed the wedding ceremony of Vanessa Carlton and the Deer Tick’s lead singer John McCauley on Friday. “Thanks Stevie for marrying us!” the 33-year-old Carlton later posted on Instagram along with the couple’s photo with the Fleetwood Mac singer. Carlton is best known for her 2002 debut single A Thousand Miles.
