“Don’t let it pass you by” is the message of a video made by City of Life director Ali Mostafa to promote the Middle East Film & Comic Con, which takes place in Dubai at the weekend. All pictures courtesy Ali Mostafa.
The comic convention promises to be a geeks' delight as sci-fi and superhero fans get together dressed as their idols.
The fan fest has been organised by ExtraCake PR in partnership with New York Comic Con and will be held at Dubai International Marine Club, Mina Seyahi, on Friday and Saturday (20, 21 April, 2012)
Individual Comic Con events usually attract significant media attention; this year the shows are the subject of the film Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan's Hope, from the American documentary maker Morgan Spurlock (Super Size Me).
Comic Con will feature more than 100 representatives selling merchandise from the worlds of science fiction, fantasy films, television, animation, comic books, anime, manga and pop art.
Ali Mostafa will be attending the sci-fi and superhero jamboree. “I will be on a panel there,” he said. “I really am excited that they are doing stuff like this here so I am there to support it as much as I can.”
Since the first Comic Con was held in San Diego, California, in 1970, the exhibitions have become a colourful, worldwide phenomenon, with spin-off events in various cities attracting outlandishly dressed fans and celebrities promoting their releases alike?
