Assassin's Creed 4 details confirmed

Another day, another Assassin's Creed in another historical period. Following last week's rumours, AC4 has been confirmed and, as predicted, Ubisoft's lucrative actioner is going all Pirates of the Caribbean.

While little beyond a (stunning) trailer and a few screenshots have been revealed, the new protagonist is said to be Edward Kenway, the grandfather of Connor from Assassin's Creed 3, and, naturally, the game seems to involve a lot of jumping between ships with cutlasses and pistols.

Some 50 Caribbean locations will be available to explore, including large-scale cities in Havana, Kingston and Nassau, while the famous swashbucklers Blackbeard and Anne Bonny are said to make cameos.

We've said it of every single AC game so far, but this really does look spectacular.
