Treasure hunters: the draw
The falcon's place at the heart of Emirati culture has never been in doubt, and it is no coincidence that the most talked-about exhibit at the Adihex show in Abu Dhabi last week was the collection of jewelled, handmade falcon hoods from the Italian jewellers Tiroler Goldschmied. Each piece, studded with diamonds and adorned with feathers, took Giancarlo Pirotta about a month to make and prices range from €5,000 (Dh24,000) to €40,000. Bespoke orders can also be taken.
